APPLYING SIGN CHANNEL FOAM TAPE
The general guidance temperature for applying tape is approx. +15⁰C - +30⁰C
1. Clean
Clean and degrease the surfaces with 100% isopropyl alcohol. The surfaces must be clean, dry and free of moisture, condensation, grease, dust and any other contaminants.
2. Prime
Prime the surface using a suitable primer, following the manufacturer's instructions.
3. Apply
Whilst handling the tape, ensure that the adhesive surface of the tape is not touched as this could cause cross-contamination and transfer of oils from the skin to the adhesive.
Apply the tape to the surface using a squeegee or preferably a roller to ensure a good, even pressure. This is key to ensure full adhesion of the tape to the surface.
We recommend leaving the finished product at least 24 hours prior to fitting to ensure the best adhesion of the tape to the product surface.
Recommendations:
Dibond Traffic Sheet has a very good tensile strength and impact resistance. The nature of Dibond Traffic is that it is more flexible than Aluminium. To obtain the best use and service life, it is recommended that the support rails, which provide stiffening, are fixed in accordance with the guidelines below.
Sign Channel should be fixed a minimum of 30mm from the edge of the sign.
When fixing sign channel by means of a non-penetrating rivet system, a maximum spacing of 150mm should be allowed.
Composite sheet signs will flex more than aluminium signs of the same size until they are mounted on posts, hence it is advisable to store completed signs flat or with support rails vertical to prevent possible damage to the sign facings.
